A Most Wanted Man was Philip Seymour Hoffman’s final performance as a leading man. While he made other on-screen appearances around this time, this turned out to be PSH’s last big part. And boy, is it fucking great. Hoffman plays a German intelligence agent trying to hunt down a... show more

A Most Wanted Man is one of the final leading performances Philip Seymour Hoffman gave us before he passed. This is an outstanding espionage thriller that works well irrespective of Hoffman. But mix in Hoffman’s brilliance? You’re left with an exceptional film. I miss PSH.

Philip Seymour Hoffman is outstanding in the 2009 release Pirate Radio. This film and this performance don’t get talked about for some reason. PSH plays a free-speech loving hippie DJ who sets out to sea so he can broadcast whatever he wants. It’s a great story and performance.

Philip Seymour Hoffman would’ve turned 59 years old today. I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again- Hoffman’s passing is one of the most shocking celebrity passings of my lifetime. It’s something I still can’t accept. How did we lose someone so talented at such a young age? I cling to this man’s work. You could go your entire life & never come close to approaching an actor with this sort of talent. Long live Philip Seymour Hoffman. 🎂

Philip Seymour Hoffman was 25 years old & working in a Deli when he was cast in "Scent of a Woman" (1992). He auditioned for the role 5 times before he was selected. After watching him perform for the first time, Martin Brest said, "“Philip Seymour Hoffman was so unbelievable that I immediately said, 'Oh my God, I’ve just discovered the next great actor.’ He just came from another planet.” There was one take from Hoffman which was so passionately delivered that it stunned the cast and crew into silence—unfortunately, it didn’t quite fit the tone of his character, and was left on the cutting room floor. Martin Brest called it, "most intense, balls-to-the-wall performances I’d ever seen. It was f***ing amazing, and the most extraordinary thing he did on the set the entire film. But it was the wrong performance—it was f***ing amazing—but it was from another movie. So I told him to play it again." It was Hoffman's performance in this movie that caught the eye of Paul Thomas Anderson who wrote a character specifically for him in "Boogie Nights" (1997), which was the basis for their collaboration until Hoffman's early demise. ("An Oral History of Scent of a Woman", Luke Georgiades, A Rabbit's Foot, 2024 & IMDb) P.S: Remembering the great American actor Philip Seymour Hoffman on his 59th birthday!

I think Philip Seymour Hoffman would’ve really loved witnessing NEW YORK KNICKS win an NBA title. In past interviews, PSH alluded to his love of basketball & the Knicks. Hoffman was a big presence throughout NYC’s theater scene. I can only imagine how much he would’ve enjoyed this week

Cooper Hoffman made an awesome visit to the Criterion Collection Closet earlier this week & it’s just another opportunity for me to remind all of you that I bought stock in Cooper Hoffman really damn early. I’ve been preaching left & right about how much this guy has the juice since before he stepped foot on Licorice Pizza. Hoffman was easily- unquestionably - the best part of the 2024 film Saturday Night. Forget his last name, this guy is an outstanding actor with great taste.

Eddington is a misunderstood achievement that was ahead of its time. I think this is the best performance from Joaquin Phoenix since he won an Oscar in 2020 & I think every last actor in this film, including Pedro Pascal, is excellent. Ari Aster is about as divisive of a director as there is on this here app, and while I don’t always jive with his work, I think this film is incredibly intelligent & a great commentary on our post-COVID lives.

What could this guy have possibly done to get himself in a 12 Vs 1 💀 he was fighting for his life and pulled out a man of the match performance 😂

Robert Redford’s final on-screen role came in 2018 when he starred in The Old Man & The Gun. I have a hard time watching this movie because it’s so emotional and so nostalgic. Redford’s final act is all heart. Hell, his entire career was all heart. Please see this movie.

Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke play brothers who decide to rob their parents' jewelry store in Sidney Lumet’s final film- Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead. I can’t stress enough how good great of a final film this is from a legendary director. Everyone here is amazing.

Unfortunately for me, this is the first time I’m seeing this man on my screen and I was so impressed with his role as a villain in Flex x cop 2. No over acting, that laughter thing that villains do in Kdramas that come out as forced felt very real with him. I felt every emotion he was conveying and he played his role so naturally he gave me the creeps. Won’t be forgetting this performance from you Yoo Seungho. Now I need his entire filmography because I need to lock in on him.

A friend worked with Tyler and swore him into the ANG. Another friend’s son was good friends with him while he was in Security Forces. Although I didn’t know him, I wanted to share this. It sums up everything about this young man as the positive and inspiring man he was to his family, friends, and fellow Airmen. He was a good man. Sources listed on photo.

Just a few reminder on Paul’s birthday today of WHY he is so revered. Here at this time Paul has said he found a trap door for his voice to go SKY HIGH. This is that period. Just an incredible performance. Donington 1988. I will post another Strutter incredible performance… later. #KISS1980s #PaulsBirthday🎂

Clavicular was speechless after seeing this man being a cuck while trying to find the love of his life 😳 “I mean, there are a lot of great guys out there.” “Are you not confident in yourself?” “Wow, this is hard to watch.”

"God loves you, you are a part of this movement, and we've got your back." It was the most important thing Charlie Kirk ever said to me. As some rejoice in his death, I remember his humanity. He was a great man who worked very hard to be a good one, too.

Greg Biffle was a patriot and a great man. This is such a tragedy. Here's Biffle last year talking about helping each other in the time of need. RIP to the Biffle and his family.
