Now that nearly every series is run by idiots, it would simply be known as "track limit violation". Motorsports used to be awesome.

Oh sure, but when I fly through the braking zone and cut the corner and go through the dirt and grass, coming back uncontrolled onto the track right into traffic leaving them with a choice of slamming on the brakes or wrecking, I'm an untalented and unsafe jerk. 😂

They should name that corner after Alex

I believe you'll find in the after race interview, he said he didn't mean to do that. It was a long time ago, but I think he alluded to he missed the brake point (locked brakes?) at the top, and that was the only thing he could do.

You can’t go 4 wheels off track and make a pass. He has to give the position back. It looks cool but it’s not racing. If he was two wheels off it would be a great pass.

In F1 they have to give the position back if they go off track to pass.
