In 1995, the memoir was adapted into the movie, ‘One Survivor Remembers’, which earned both an Academy Award and Emmy Award. Throughout her life, Gerda was an advocate for Holocaust education and human rights and served on the governing board of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.
