Philosophically, there's nothing wrong with bringing in extremely talented foreigners to fill key jobs. However, there's a lot wrong with using H-1B visas to bring in foreigners because they will work cheaper than Americans, which is most of what it's really used for.

Ending the 60-day grace period won't have the desired impact on H-1B workers due to existing loopholes & visa transfer options. A laid off H-1B worker can file for B1 or F1 visa online on his last day. As long as B1/F1 application is pending, he can stay legally in US!!

For Liverpool drivers, they have to pass a road knowledge test. They need to know the city. Or you can take a shortcut and apply to Wolverhampton and they will send you the badge up in the post. No tests needed. So the job has been flooded with foreigners and watered the job down so it isn’t worth a wnk anymore.
