He must be talking about SPICE integration on Indian airforce Rafales (for which they had to abandon and separately pay to integrate HAMMER) as part of the ~$2BN ISE package Anything else would be disingenuous…..

This is applicable only for desi platforms. Imports like Rafale are excluded from this rule of endless wait and platform obliscence. And yes Su30s also wont be upgraded for close to 2 decades.

Only the Indian defence industry has to move at the speed of technology, while the foreign or screwdrivergiri weapon industry can move at any speed, and we will support it.

#WATCH | Jaisalmer | Director General (Weapon Systems), Air Marshal Premkumar Krishnaswamy says, "Dronathon 2026 is not merely a technology exhibition; it is an effort by the Indian Air Force to engage directly with industry, startups, and innovators, understand what they are developing, and, most importantly, assess how these platforms perform under realistic operational conditions, as you have witnessed today...This event is about understanding how technology can be translated into operational capability and how the Indian Air Force and Indian industry can work together to achieve that objective...The event brings together established defence companies, MSMEs, startups, and innovators, giving them an opportunity not only to display their products but also to demonstrate what those systems can deliver under realistic operational conditions...Dronathon 2026 is not the destination—it is the beginning. It is a mechanism through which users and developers can learn from one another. Industry gains a clearer understanding of operational challenges, while the IAF gains a better appreciation of emerging technologies and solutions being developed within India. The direction is clear: we must move towards a more innovative, self-reliant, technologically advanced, and operationally effective unmanned ecosystem for India. The Indian Air Force is committed to being an active partner in this journey. We look forward to working with industry, startups, and innovators to transform promising ideas into credible operational capabilities for the Indian Armed Forces. The second edition of Dronathon will be held in approximately six months, as announced by the Vice Chief of Air Staff earlier today. This will provide an opportunity for those industries that were unable to showcase their products during this inaugural edition of Dronathon 2026"
