A one-year-old was pepper-sprayed by DHS. Read that again. ProPublica found DHS agents used tear gas or pepper spray on 79 children. I asked CBP if any officers have been disciplined for tear-gassing kids. They couldn’t answer.

More than 30 people have died in DHS custody over the last year. Last weekend, it was one of my constituents. He developed a medical issue and, by all reports other than the DHS official report, was denied medical care that might have saved his life. I cannot support a bill giving funds to DHS that doesn't rein in masked ICE agents who are terrorizing our communities, tear-gassing babies, going door to door, raiding homes without a warrant, and holding American citizens, even children, at gunpoint.

They turned their vehicle to leave—at that point, your agents sprayed pepper spray out of their vehicle and into driver side window of this family’s vehicle. Is it proper procedure to aim pepper spray into the window of a moving vehicle? Scott: No. Magaziner: Were any of your agents investigated or disciplined for this? Scott: I’ll have to get back to you.

Veteran detained by ICE: I identified myself as a US citizen and a veteran, but that didn't matter. Agents smashed my window, sprayed tear gas and pepper spray into my car, dragged me out. Even after I complied, I was taken to a detention center and held for 3 days without charges. No phone call, no lawyer, no medical care, even though my skin burned from the chemicals.

A car belonging to residents in the area had just pulled in behind the crowd of anti-ICE protesters and was unfortunately stuck in the crossfire when of tear gas, flash bangs, pepper spray, and pepper balls as a result. There were kids in the vehicle including a baby. I gave them all the Sudecon wipes that I had on me, and police, fire, and paramedic came soon after.

In a Sam’s Club parking lot in Cicero, Illinois… just outside Chicago… federal agents illegally deployed pepper spray into a moving vehicle with a baby in the back seat. The family had gone to Sam’s Club to buy groceries. When they saw agents and helicopters, they decided to leave the area to avoid any trouble. As they went to leave, agents in a black pickup truck threw pepper spray into the driver’s side window, while passing in the opposite direction. The powder hit the driver directly in the face… while their one-year-old sat behind them. The family wasn’t following the agents. They weren’t protesting. They were simply trying to go home. This is a blatant abuse of authority, child endangerment, and a federal civil rights violation. There is no lawful or moral justification for deploying a chemical weapon into a moving car traveling the opposite way. This could have ended in tragedy.

NEW: Ohio State police say they have launched an investigation into the brawl between Ohio State and Michigan where officers used pepper spray against the players. After Michigan beat Ohio State, Michigan players planted their flag on the Ohio State logo. "Following the game, officers from multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in breaking up an on-field altercation," Ohio State police said. "During the scuffle, multiple officers representing Ohio and Michigan deployed pepper spray. OSUPD is the lead agency for games & will continue to investigate." The individual who filmed the video below, Ryan Callihan, was one of the people who got sprayed.
