As always, while watching some scenes from the episode, I get this déjà vu. And this time it happened during the hospital scene. I’m honestly 100% sure that the earlier almost miscarriage situation was intentional. It felt like they wanted to show us Serhat’s reaction when his child and the woman carrying his child were in danger and then later contrast it with his reaction when the woman he truly loves, the other half of his soul, is the one fighting for her life. I will never stop appreciating Ilhan’s acting. From episode one people doubted him, saying he only had one expression. But back then that was Serhat… the controlled doctor, M’s husband, the surgeon who keeps everything inside. Now he’s completely different. The emotional shift is almost 180 degrees from that version of Serhat. From the cave scene to the hospital scene the emotions were already intense, but the hospital was a masterpiece. The way he could barely stay standing, the way he allowed himself to cry openly even though his guards were around him! he didn’t care. Because the woman he loves had just been lifeless in his arms. And look at the details: he went down on his knees twice in this episode for her. A man as powerful and towering as a mountain fell to his knees because he felt utterly helpless! First in the cave, when he realized he was helpless! she was fainting, the venom in her blood was faster than anything he could do, and his strength meant nothing in that moment. Then again in the hospital, when he finally reached his limit and simply couldn’t stay standing anymore😭 And this is the same man who showed almost no emotion when his father died. The same man who barely reacted when his mother had a heart attack. The same man who stayed composed when his legal wife nearly miscarried. The contrast is INSANE. thank you, #ilhanşen 🥹 Thanks to everyone who wrote Serhat’s character this way, and thanks to Ilhan for delivering it so powerfully. And thanks for all the tiny micro-details that people like me (the ones obsessed with details) will always notice.😭🤏🏻 #HalefKöklerinÇağrısı

A Guatemalan immigrant won $750,000 on a Georgia lottery ticket but was too scared to claim it himself. So he handed it to his boss and trusted him to collect it on his behalf. His boss took every dollar, fired him, and told police he had bought the ticket himself. The surveillance footage proved otherwise. – Jose Antonio Cua-Toc entered the United States illegally from Guatemala in 2000. – By 2010 he was 27 years old and working as a day laborer for a Fort Valley Georgia businessman named Erick Cervantes. – On November 17 2010 he bought a Jingle Jumbo Bucks scratch card from the OM Food Mart at 700 Feagin Mill Road in Warner Robins Georgia. – When he came back that same night to validate the ticket the cashier confirmed he had won $750,000. – Store surveillance footage captured the moment. – Cua-Toc raised both hands in the air. He hugged his girlfriend. – He took photos of the ticket on his phone. He was celebrating. – Then reality hit. As an undocumented immigrant he was afraid to walk into the Georgia Lottery office and identify himself. – He feared deportation and he handed the ticket to his boss Erick Cervantes and asked him to claim it on his behalf and pass the money back. – Cervantes cashed the ticket, received the check and then fired Cua-Toc and kept every single dollar. – His explanation in court was that he had given Cua-Toc $20 that day to buy lottery tickets along with some cigarettes. Therefore the ticket was his. – Cua-Toc was arrested in November 2010 on charges of making terroristic threats after allegedly calling Cervantes repeatedly and threatening to kill him and his family if he did not hand over the money. His attorney denied the allegations and said Cervantes had $750,000 reasons to make things up. – Cua-Toc sued from jail. His attorney showed the jury the store surveillance footage of him raising his hands and celebrating the moment the ticket was validated. Cervantes had no explanation for the footage. – In March 2012 a Houston County Superior Court jury ruled entirely in Cua-Toc's favour. He was awarded the full $750,000. Just under $500,000 after taxes. Plus $207,000 in attorney fees. Plus $25,000 in punitive damages. – When he won the lawsuit he was serving a 44-day sentence for a separate drunk driving conviction. He also still faced potential deportation proceedings. A man won $750,000, handed his ticket to his boss because he was afraid to claim it himself, got fired, got arrested, got sued, went to jail, and still walked away with the money two years later because the store camera never stopped recording.
