In the video, the crew can be heard warning dispatch that the fire could overtake them at any moment. With flames on all sides, thick smoke, and almost zero visibility, the situation looked apocalyptic. The crew was later evacuated safely, and rail traffic in the area was temporarily suspended. Just a little longer, and the entire train could have turned into a giant torch.

Luckily the three railmen jumped clear just in time sustaining only slight injuries. #Thailand No. 983 is a chartered train heading to Suphanburi Station. There’s only one passenger train that does a return trip once a week on this line and so the train was being cautious. Locals would not know the train was coming but railmen should be fully aware. They said they heard the whistle but thought it was a train on the main line.

A spokesman for the state-owned railway company PT KAI confirmed the two fatalities. Numerous other passengers were injured. The reason why both trains were allowed on the same track is still under investigation.

The legends surrounding historical race relations in the U.S. need to be subjected to examination and - if appropriate - revision. Take this incident as an example for why that is needed. Via Norwood News (link to full article in comment): After Alex O’Keefe, the award-winning screenwriter of Hulu’s “The Bear,” who is black, posted on social media that he was allegedly arrested following a complaint made by a white woman about the way he was seated while aboard a Metro North train to Connecticut on Sept. 18, the MTA Police Department (MTAPD) provided an update on the incident, saying “the passenger” [O’Keefe] was handcuffed and removed from the Metro North Train at the Fordham Metro-North station in The Bronx but was not arrested. MTA police said that at around 10.25 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, MTAPD officers responded to a report of “a disorderly passenger” on Train #1518 at Fordham Metro-North station in The Bronx. They did not name O’Keefe and said the train was en route at the time from Grand Central Terminal to New Haven, when a conductor reported “a passenger occupying two seats had refused to remove his feet from one of the seats.” They said an investigation, enhanced by body-worn cameras and on-board security camera video, revealed a 31-year-old male was observed with both legs stretched across an adjacent seat and that when MTAPD officers boarded, he “refused police direction to exit [the train].” They said officers told the passenger to disembark the train and step onto the platform where he was allegedly informed he would be able to board the next train. They said when he allegedly continued to refuse to exit, which they said delayed service for several hundred other riders for six minutes, the passenger was handcuffed and removed from the train. Train accident averted in Mushin this afternoon… A potentially fatal train accident at the Railway Crossing in Cappa, Mushin, has just been narrowly averted. Vehicles passing on the tracks were stopped to allow the approaching train pass but a fully loaded passenger bus and a saloon car got stuck due to the widening ditch beneath the rail tracks. Seeing the impending disaster from afar, the train driver applied full brakes to bring the train to a halt. While the car forcefully lurched backward to escape being rammed into, the passenger bus managed to free itself by a whisker. The train halted just a bit beyond the spot where both vehicles were stuck, narrowly brushing the passenger bus at the rear. Despite being safe at a distance, I nearly jumped out of my car in horror at the close call. The bus driver sped off ostensibly to escape being reproached by terrified bystanders. As the man started sliding down the slope, he could be seen inflating his anti-avalanche airbag to keep him above the surface of the snow. The man was then taken to the hospital by a helicopter.
