This is the gem that broke all the rules: Breezin' (1976). Before this record, labels forbade George Benson from singing because they didn't think he had a "commercial voice". Ironically, this Warner debut became the first jazz album to go triple platinum and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Pop chart. 🤔 Fun Fact: The vocals for his hit "This Masquerade" were originally tracked as a simple guide using an inexpensive microphone. The take was so natural and perfect that it became the final version that won the Grammy for Record of the Year. Did you know? 🤯

Bunch of bangers on that one. Q production, John “JR” Robinson and Carlos Vega on drums, Louis “Thunder Thumbs” Johnson and Abraham Laboriel on bass, Herbie Hancock and Richard Tee on keys, Lee Ritenour on guitar, several Rod Temperton-composed tracks, etc. C’mon!
