I'm a big fan of batteries, but this 3000 km+ 12 GW 1100 kV HVDC transmission line took me a while to realize and take in the fact that the peak demand hours around the east coast is getting close to the *same time* as solar peak hours in the west.. now imagine a line between SoCal and east coast, or a line between Hawaii and the west coast.. flattening the duck curve without any batteries!
