so who was the professional

Anyone else expected the second guy to be the professional because the first didn't look very impressive (for the unknowing eye that is)? 😆

“Professional” swimmer?

When does the pro come in?

Pro was the tide, bro barely survived

While this is reasonably safe (always a danger when it comes to water) Be sure to never attempt to swim in whitewater, meaning rapidly moving water. Phelps himself would perish. Sadly I was on a scene where a young man went into rapids and didn't surface. His two friends jumped in to save him. All three perished and they didn't receive the bodies for several days until the river receded a bit. Recovery teams knew where they were (long poles and cameras) but would have been too risky for even them to pull out. It was tragic. This looks fun for sure, and is. Be safe out there and be cautious when it comes to water. Another side note, this is obviously a popular swimming hole and well vetted for obstructions But in unknown open water, please do not enter head first Every once in a while someone is severely injured, paralyzed, or even killed by hitting a rock or something whilst diving in Lastly I suppose cause I'm on a rant Cold water kills (again obviously not in this scenario) Water quite literally will pull heat energy away from your body 20-30 percent faster than air. Let's say you fall into water that is 45 degree (7c) you will be dead within minutes (of course if you carry more body fat you will have more time but not long) So springtime canoeists, boaters, hikers, etc. Be aware. If you fall into cold water, blget sontil of your breath and get out. Stay calm and get out of the wind and wet clothes and get dry clothes/shelter fast and/or keep moving to get warm Be safe out there y'all

That's exactly what it is. A pro doesn't fight the water, he slips on it. Ultra-horizontal body position, effective support, controlled breathing.

Err he got tired after 5 butterflys?? That’s not a pro lol

who is the professional swimmer here?

Professional swimmer

I don't think you know what "tide" means.

@grok if your goal is to stay even with your point of entry, wouldn’t a regular swimming stroke be better than the butterfly stroke that the professional singer is using?

And why his friend let him jump in there in the first place?

They both look professional

The classical & perfect art of swimming

Me doing that

The tide can be dangerous

And they risked their lives for this video.

Where’s the difference?

Is that Michael phelps?

Would you dare to swim here❓

Against the current

Both ended at the same endpoint, average swimmer with less energy😂😂😂

Butterfly stroke would not have been my first choice, impressive bro was able to keep up

The second one is far from being "average". The only positive thing about his swimming is that he survived...

Great swimmer.. 😅

bro literally had no chance

The butterfly is not the stroke I'd use for the first 20 seconds against such current. Strong, steady front crawl, at an oblique angle to intended direction, is what I was taught to become a qualified lifeguard. So, I would be aiming for the nearest egress bank at about 60°.

What’s the difference?

Swimming

Wow he made it look so easy just going through his motions all calm!

That would be swimming against the current. No tidal action involved.

is this professional? where’s the difference

Average swimmer already knew what to do😂

It's the difference between thriving and barely surviving.
