As part of creating a Swachh Bharat, volunteers from the Isha Yoga Center visited villages around the Center on October 1 to clean up, and also spread awareness among the villagers about the importance of keeping our surroundings clean and hygienic. Swachh Bharat or "Clean India" in English, is an effort by the government, civil society organizations and concerned citizens to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the nation, through awareness sessions, voluntary cleaning activities and other initiatives. I am pleased to announce that Odisha has received its due share in the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Addressing the media, I expressed my gratitude for the budget, stating that the state’s demands, put forth during the pre-budget meeting, have been met. I must thank the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for including Odisha’s demands in the budget. Odisha will now have ample job opportunities, reducing the need for our youth to migrate outside for work. The Finance Minister has focused on developing the tourism sector in Odisha, including our coastline, temples, heritage sites, and forests. Additionally, she has prioritized our farmers and the farm sector. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Shri Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The promises he made during the election period are clearly reflected in this Union Budget. This is the largest budget Odisha has ever received from the Centre. Today's budget surpasses any budget presented by the UPA government. The people of Odisha will benefit significantly from improvements in the tourism sector, agriculture, and seafood export. It is a great honour for #Odisha and its people that the President of India, hailing from our State addressed the Odisha Legislative Assembly. We are all proud that, the daughter of this land is the President of the country. It is even more proud that she started her political career from this Odisha Legislative Assembly twenty-five years ago, and today she has increased the glory of this land by becoming the President of the country. Unity in diversity is the beauty of our nation. Different languages, lifestyles, customs, cultures and thoughts have contributed immensely to strengthen the Indian polity. After Independence integration of princely states was a great political challenge. The accession of princely states of India first took place in Odisha with Nilagiri and others joining on 14th November 1947 and thus Odisha had provided leadership to the rest of India to unite and consolidate Indian nationhood. It is befitting to the occasion to recall the contribution of Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das for creating a separate province of Odisha, first time in India on the basis of language. He achieved this historic goal along with other national leaders, by adopting constitutional methods. As the President of this great country, you ‘preserve, protect and defend’ the Constitution of India, the 75th anniversary of which was celebrated just recently. The entire country looks upon you, President Madam, for inspiration and guidance in preserving the very soul of India. As you are aware, Odisha has scripted history in myriad fields in the last couple of decades. In disaster management, food production, women’s empowerment, poverty alleviation, infrastructure development, transformation in health and educational spheres and creation of a climate of industrial growth, Odisha is indeed an inspiring story. All credit for such phenomenal growth has been possible because of the unstinting support and blessings of the people of Odisha. Our disaster management policy has become a role model for the entire country and Odisha also got international recognition for its good work in disaster management. Odisha, with its rich natural resources and skilled workforce, has great potential for growth. We should all strive to ensure Odisha scales new heights of glory. On behalf of the opposition parties in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, extend a hearty welcome to you.

At the national level, the OBC have long awaited fair representation through affirmative action. Previous governments in Odisha showed little commitment to implementing social justice and did not take concrete steps in this direction... Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, Odisha government, led by CM Mohan Charan Majhi, made a decision. Based on the population data of SCs and STs in the state, Odisha had a total reservation of 38.75%.
