Alexandra Anaya purchased the wheelchair from a thrift store in Hollywood, Florida, and was charging it with a non-manufacturer charger when a clicking noise woke her up. Anaya then searched online and realized the wheelchair was an imminent threat, so she brought it outside before the battery exploded. Hollywood Fire Rescue and Beach Safety are urging the public to use the correct charger, check batteries for excess heat while charging, and never leave batteries charging unattended.
