I also don’t think this accounts for the raise in property taxes as well. So many people bought houses at the brink of their budget, thinking that the mortgage payment would be fixed. Then, the changes in property taxes took them over the edge.

This is why I recommend people exploring their options to invest in building or paying off property outside of America. You could get so much more for your money, elsewhere. The main benefit of owning in the U.S., is being able to leverage the equity in your home.
