I deal with this a lot. The ADA covers service animals, not support animals. They are two very different issues. A service animal is a dog (or miniature horse) that is trained to perform a specific task for someone w8th a disability. You may sk 2 and only 2 questions: Is this animal required for a disability? What task has this animal been trained to perform? That's it. Having said that, I get people trying to bring in their yuppie little kickme dogs with them and claiming it's a service dog, only to later tell them, keep your little cannon mop on a leash or get it out of here. Because, oh yeah, you are required to keep service animals under control at all times.

I was in property Mgmt for 17 years. The amount of people with “emotional support pit bulls” these days is WILD. You can get papers for them off the internet for $50. There are entire companies that opened strictly to vet these documents and assist the onsight teams. It’s a massive problem in the industry
