On the day of Mosab’s death, Iman, our speech therapist and camp resident distributed Molokhye (Palestinian dish) & rice to the Refaat Alareer camp residents. A camp with 30 families that feels like a family, support them here: Iman told us that she saw Mosab on his way out while distributing, and she told him “when you’re back, I’ll cook you Molokhye.” He was wearing a white shirt and smiled telling her that he looks forward to it. Mosab never came back and never had molokhye. Instead, the car he was in got bombed and his white shirt was drenched in blood. He ended up walking away but he didn’t leave the area when another woman came up to talk to her and warned her about him. The woman wasn’t local and only stayed because she felt the man was very suspicious and she didn’t want anything to happen to the woman on vacation. When you are traveling alone, it’s never a good idea to let that be known, never tell anyone you are from out of town because it makes you a target. One of #LISA’s friends is a friend of him (rusameekae). He remembers he was crying when he got invited to the Birthday Party. Lisa’s friend also asked him to perform a surprise show for Lisa. He was really nervous at first because he knows how good Lisa is as a dancer and how big the stages she performed on. He didn’t know what would Lisa expect. So he gave a lot of thought and wanted to be himself in the show. He ended up choosing and performing “Water by Tyla”. He even hired a dance instructor and took a 3 hrs dance class.
