A slightly enchanted thing just happened-had the door open bc have been gardening and a WREN hopped in to the house, had a quick look around, spotted a deceased spider in the doorframe, had it as a snack and then…left. What the heck 🪶

I’m a little jealous 😁 I’ve had a hedgehog walk indoors, a fox - very nearly , and currently have a young tatty looking magpie that visits the back door daily to eat leftover hedgehog food ! But a wren ! 😍

I feel so sorry for him/her. Tatty (as we don’t know if m or f) looks as if it is regularly pecked upon by others, tatty head & neck feathers which it has had for weeks🥹lands on the fence by my open kitchen window each morning & listens to me talking to it 😁

It might be that he/she is moulting-It’s moulting season for most bird species and they can look TERRIBLE while it’s happening-patchily bald, very very scruffy and honestly not well, but it’s just new feather time, they come through it 🪶

Possibly yes, that’s what I originally thought. It does seem a bit of a loner though - all the others go around in a mob ! We’ve “adopted” this one 🥰 Good job I’m not particularly superstitious!

My husband had a wren fledgling land on his shoulder while he was just sitting watching them 🥰 Said it stayed for a good few seconds!

I love wrens. Have a few that live by my garden. They always come out when it's quiet. Today there must have been a silent bird "let's get going" as they've all turned up . Autumn is here and so are the grubs.

I have Wrenvy too now! I had a spotty juv Robin in the kitchen a couple of years back, such a cutie; had to gently help it leave as it was bewildered by the window, dear wee thing!

I sat by some bushes at the graveyard and heard an animal in there. It was magical trying to see what animal or bird it was. Just the thought of it moving about was a delight

I love wrens! I have one who comes back every spring and builds nests in the 2 birdhouses right off my deck. They aren't bothered by humans. And boy can they sing!

That is so very British. Here I’d get a dozen horseflies, ten never say die mosquitoes and a rabid possum.

Oh I maybe get a bluebottle or two and maybe a small annoying mosquito at the same time…👀

Nothing like cheek is there. I've been getting a Robin that comes through the back kitchen door, and helping itself to Waxworms from a tub on the worktop. It perches anywhere it likes. Lol

Yes me too. I also mistake my garden dunnocks for voles/mice sometimes too. They occupy the same ecological niche I suppose, except for the flying part & the digging holes as a house part…

Beautiful little things 😍 we have House Martin nests in our porch the wrens use over winter, often get one flying in when we open the front door 😂 One got in our Christmas Tree a few years back…nightmare getting it to come out 😂
