Australian Travis Smyth shot rounds of 72, 66, 68 and 67 to finish T8 at LIV Golf Korea. He also become just the 2nd reserve player to win the team event after filling in for Paul Casey, who has a wrist injury, on Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC as they won their 10th title, the most by any team on the league. He spoke about the experience this week: “It was wild. I was back in Sydney over the weekend hanging with some friends, celebrating, a bit of a party sort of weekend, which I don't normally do, so I was quite hungover. I got the call that I'd be reserve on Sunday and I was like, all right, sweet, I'll get on a flight as soon as I can. “Came in Tuesday, got up really early Wednesday to play nine holes in a pro-am in the rain and kind of passed by Bryson and he was like, hey, man, we're choosing you this week. I kind of thought that he meant he's choosing me as the fill-in guy if someone pulls out. I hadn't heard that Paul had hurt his wrist. “I felt bad for about two and a half hours because I wasn't quite sure if I was actually playing and the fact that I may have just brushed Bryson when he told me that I'm in. “It's just been a whirlwind of a week. I felt extremely nervous, just like Charles was saying. He still feels it; imagine how I felt. I didn't want to be the fill-in guy that disappoints the team and stops them from standing on the podium. I'm over the moon. I'm super proud of myself, super proud of these guys, and couldn't have asked for a better first week. “But actually, I was one of the founding fathers of the Crushers when LIV first started. Peter Uihlein was the captain and we came second then as a team, and we came first this week. So I don't know. There's something to that.” Travis is having the best season of his career so far, winning the PGA Tour of Australasia OOM to earn a DP World Tour card for 2027 already. He also sits top of the Asian Tour standings and 2nd in The International Series Rankings, in line for a potential contract for LIV Golf in 2027. Travis will now make the trip to Spain for LIV Golf Andalucia at the famous Real Club Valderrama, where he will once again be filling in for Paul Casey on Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC. Anthony Kim says it’s special to win as a team for the first time and DJ promised he’d buy the 4Aces a private plane soon: “Yeah, it was my first time, obviously, in that situation where we had a chance to win. I think it was the second-to-last hole when DJ and I were playing together, I thought that we were up one, and I had a 10-footer, and it actually meant a little bit more than just moving up the leaderboard a little bit. “To win with these guys is pretty special, and I look forward to doing it a lot more.” “I was straight trash the first year and a half I played. But yeah, I felt my game was getting better, and I think I had a couple different teams I could go to. I didn't think they were the right fit. “I've known DJ for a long time, developed a great relationship with Thomas Pieters and got to play with Tom Detry in Riyadh. I knew it was a good fit. I couldn't be more excited to be on the 4Aces, and for us to pop off a win is nice. “DJ said he was going to get us a private plane soon (smiling).” In his first 3 events since qualifying back to the LIV Golf League via the Promotions Events AK has an individual win and a team win. So does he find it all a bit surreal? “After Adelaide, the first couple days seemed pretty surreal. Obviously we all play to win, right? But now with LIV Golf, there's two elements. You get to win with three other guys that you're battling with. This is pretty special. “Obviously I didn't have my best. DJ didn't have his best this week. But both Thomases played well. This seems more real, right? “But when we're top 4 and we win the team title, that'll be nice. But it's been a great ride. I know if I didn't make that putt, I'm probably not sitting here with these guys. But I put in the work, and I'm going to keep putting in the work.” AK and the 4Aces now head to LIV Golf Singapore for the 2nd event of a 3 week stretch. Anthony Kim 4Aces GC LIV Golf

NCAA Champion Michael La Sasso is now the youngest player on LIV Golf after signing for Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC during the off season. He explained his decision to join the league ahead of the season opener in Riyadh: “One of the things that went into my decision, when I was 10 years old starting to play golf, like, the goal for me was to play professional golf. Having people that have been very well-known in the golf space and are so experienced, and to be able to be a part of a team that's with Phil, somebody that's had so much experience, I feel like he'll be able to answer any question that I throw at him, to have the ability to be able to ask somebody that on a daily basis, that played a very big part in it for me because not every 21-year-old has the opportunity to be able to ask questions to those people. So that was a big factor for me. “I think so far, I'm so grateful that I made the decision, and I am very happy to be here.” Michael also says that Caleb Surratt, who joined Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf team for the 2024 season, had an impact on his decision too: “So, I've had a very good relationship with Caleb Surratt. Not many people know this, but he was committed to NC State at the same time I was. He's from North Carolina, I'm from North Carolina. Growing up, I played a lot of golf with him, and we were very close. “I remember when he first came here, he stayed at my house because he was getting a swing lesson from -- we go to the same instructor. Everything that he had to say, it made me excited. From a very early start, hearing about LIV and every perk that it had and hearing him talk so highly about it, the fact that I actually had an opportunity to come out here and play, and I asked him a bunch of questions and kind of from the start, everything that he had to say and people that I talked to, everything was so, so good.” He went on to say about the prospect of playing team golf: “I think that makes the transition a little bit easier. I feel like my golf has kind of taken off when I've been in a team environment. For me, having a team around me was very appealing. “I've played good golf as a team. I like the camaraderie, kind of the friendly banter that goes back and forth between the guys. For me to have the opportunity to come play on a team environment for a professional career, I think that's the coolest thing ever.” This is Michael’s rookie season as a pro after signing for HyFlyers GC straight out of college. Normally, it’s a difficult transition for young players to make, but Michael isn’t short of confidence and has some lofty goals: “I've talked with a bunch of people on the team. I know Phil is very big on having a team win and an individual win. Now being the youngest player in the league, I'd kind of like to come in and make a good noise, and I would like to win a couple times. I would like to see the team win for sure, as a team event. I think that would be pretty neat, as well, and kind of take it one day at a time.” One thing is very clear from this interview, whatever happens during Michael’s pro debut this week, it will not be boring! The PGA Championship is often accused of lacking identity but it always has one of the strongest fields in golf with the majority of the top 100 players in the world playing. It’s also had an incredible list of winners over the last 10 years that back up that theory: 2025: Scottie Scheffler beat Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English and Davis Riley 2024: Xander Schauffele beat Bryson DeChambeau 2023: Brooks Koepka beat Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland 2022: Justin Thomas beat Will Zalatoris 2021: Phil Mickelson beat Brooks Koepka 2020: Collin Morikawa beat Dustin Johnson and Paul Casey 2019: Brooks Koepka beat Dustin Johnson 2018: Brooks Koepka beat Tiger Woods 2017: Justin Thomas beat Patrick Reed, Louis Oosthuizen and Francesco Molinari Justin Rose has played in 24 PGA Championships and ahead of this week’s playing at Aronimink, he spoke about what makes this particular major unique: “The PGA Championship, I would say what makes it unique is the strength of the field. The amount of players that are in the top 100 in the world is the most out of all the four majors. I think that it's played on classic tests of golf that are set up to challenge us, but also allow us to play golf. “Whether it's 8-under par, 10-under par, 16-under par, doesn't really matter too much. It's about just a good test of golf on a strong golf course. So from that point of view I think it has its character. And, yeah, listen, it's one of the four majors, and if you want to achieve amazing things in this game you have to lift all four majors. So for everybody here, it's a huge goal.” Whatever your thoughts on the PGA Championship, one thing is for the sure, it consistently delivers some electric leaderboards down the stretch on Sundays. As golf fans, isn’t that all we really want? PGA Championship Justin ROSE

Anthony Kim is in the middle of an incredible comeback season. Having been relegated from LIV Golf last year, he earned his way back via the Promotions Event and then won on the league almost immediately in Adelaide. He’s not done there though, AK is now targeting a return to the Masters in 2027. Ahead of LIV Golf Andalucia, AK spoke to Flushing It Golf about how his season is going so far: “1% better is something that I'm keeping with me every day. “To get a win early in the season, especially in Australia, was amazing, and getting that moment with my family was amazing. But I've had a couple weeks where my focus wasn't as good as I wanted, so theres a lot to improve on still. I think that I'm progressing in the right way, and if I just keep working, I'll keep getting better.” AK’s success has been a simple combination of hard work and focusing on the fundamentals to utilise the incredible natural talent he’s had throughout his career. He spoke about the importance of getting the basics right: “I was just explaining to my friend over there, no matter how well you're playing, you always have to go back to the fundamentals. Whether it's alignment, posture, grip, all the small things to keep playing good golf. I think no matter how far along I get, whether I win a bunch more times, no matter what the result, I still have to focus on that first. And then everything else will take care of itself.” AK’s concentrating right now on solely playing LIV Golf events. But once the league season is over, he plans to play on The International Series on the Asian Tour, with a specific target of the Hong Kong Open, where there is a Masters spot on the line. He spoke about the target of returning to Augusta: “Yeah, the target is to give myself an opportunity, not only to play a major, but to win a major. I know that sounds crazy, but it also sounded crazy for me to be contending to win a golf tournament, let alone to actually win. “So, I'm excited for the opportunity that I have in front of me, and I think I'm gonna be able to keep getting better as long as I keep working.” AK still has a great chance to qualify for The Open this week at Valderrama for the highest ranked player on the LIV Golf Standings who isn’t already exempt. Hopefully he can play well and add another chapter to what has already been an inspirational story. Anthony Kim 4Aces GC LIV Golf

Executives hit the market with LIV Golf 2.0 last week, framing it as “built by the players, for the players.” It has an emphasis on player ownership, an increased schedule utilising national opens, but reduced purses. The schedule consists of 10 team events, and 8-10 national opens, with 5 “team majors” and 5 “team signature events”. The “majors” are to be played on 5 continents in line with the most successful events: Australia, South Africa, UK, Hong Kong and Mexico. And the signature events are to be hosted predominantly in the US, around the 4 major championships. The purse sizes is fluid and dependent on the new investors. From an extensive amount of sourcing, I expect them to be $15 million for 5 events and $10 million for the rest. With a potential weighting that distributes more money at the top of the leaderboard. A well placed LIV Golf source said: “We are very confident future purses will be above DP World Tour levels and player take home will be in line with the PGA Tour.” From sourcing within player ranks, the purse sizes are, obviously, one of the most important factors impacting their commitment. Several players suggested to me if the purses fall in line with the DP World Tour they probably wouldn’t stay. But at $10-$15 million it’s a different proposition. More clarity is needed though on both LIV Golf’s future and the new structure of the PGA Tour to get a better picture. I’ve spoken directly to at least a dozen players who told me they are fully committed to LIV Golf, and if it exists, they will be there. Bryson DeChambeau is leading that charge and it’s understating it to say he’s committed. He desperately wants LIV Golf to succeed and to build a global golf league that’s built for the 21st century. He’s thinking long term and his enthusiasm is truly infectious. But a big question is what will Jon Rahm do? It’s difficult to get any real feel of it as he didn’t do media outside press conferences. But he did answer my question on whether he was taking a similar role to Bryson in trying to secure investment and he replied, “I am not, no.” The full quote is on my timeline. I was told, however, that Jon had encouraged other players to avoid reading the media because of the amount of misinformation. There was also a Legion XIII hospitality area, where the GM, Jeff Koski, was hosting current and potential future partners while offering Imperial Gran Reserva, the Rioja that Jon served at his 2024 Masters Champions Dinner. The players will be given equity in the league itself or team franchises to encourage them to stay, further committing those taking this option to the success of the league’s future. The majority of the media rights will be returned to the players. Giving them the opportunity to build their own online brands on socials and sign personal partnerships. The size of the fields is unclear at this stage, but the shotgun start will continue, so the possibility of adding 2 more expansion teams to take the league to 15 franchises (60 players) would likely be top end. I fully expect them to utilise the Asian Tour pathways to fill many of the open spots, especially if players leave. That would help further appease the OWGR concerns and increase the ability to build their own stars. But sources were also confident they could attract established names with potential equity in the league. Multiple sources indicated that Fox Sports are ready to sign a new deal with LIV Golf as soon as the league is ready. LIV Golf are also working with networks on a potential broadcast model that incorporates TV viewership with YouTube and social media in an attempt to unlock revenue streams across digital IP. I’ve spent several days going back and forth through notes and transcripts, sourcing information the best I can. I think even in these early stages as they take LIV Golf 2.0 to market this is as fair and accurate of a representation as I can offer. Let me know your thoughts in the comments 👍

For its “F1” film, Apple sold $40m of sponsorships for the fictitious race team, APXGP (which offset the $200m+ budget). Expesify was title sponsor with sidepod car placement and logo on front of the racing suit. How much did Expensify pay? It didn’t say but main sponsors are typically 25-50% of the total sponsorship take. That puts Expensify’s spend at $10-20m (other brands in the film include IWC, Geico, EA Sports, Mercedes, Tommy Hilfiger). The expense and spend management SaaS product saw sales of $140m in 2024. While the “F1” sponsorship pencils out to 7-14% of sales, Expensify CFO says the commitment was over multiple years but has not…err…expensed the “F1” deal in its filings yet (and when they do, the “F1 expense will be large, but not a big impact on cash flow.”) For comparison sake, here are priciest actual annual F1 sponsorship deals: ▫️Oracle ($90m to Red Bull) ▫️Aramco ($75m to Aston Martin) ▫️Petronas ($70m to Mercedes) Expensify CEO says the “F1” film is “one of the best brand placement opportunities ever” and one main reason they were able to get it: Apple wouldn’t allow brands competing with its own products to bid. The CEO might be right. There are photos everywhere of Brad Pitt repping the logo. Damson Idris wore the race suit to Met Gala. Tens of millions of people will watch the film in theatre and streaming and ask “yo, who dafook is Expensify?” Example: Expensify saw a 4x increase in product sign-ups the day after Met Gala. Pretty hilarious that other than $3T Apple, the company that may benefit most from film will be a $225 fintech SAAS firm. *** The $40m figure from Forbes: Expensify CFO/CEO comments:

Mito Pereira was a par on the last away from winning the PGA Championship in 2022 before he joined Torque GC on the LIV Golf League later that year. 3 seasons later, he was relegated yesterday after finishing 51st on the Individual Standings. He gave his reaction after the round: “To be honest, I was really happy for Sebastian, really happy for Joaco, really happy for Carlos. Obviously how Sebastian played this tournament, how Joaco played this entire year and Carlos also. It's never easy to play bad, but I tried. I gave my best, and we move on. “Hopefully I'll have more opportunities in the future. If not, I know I gave my best these past two years. But overall really happy for these guys, too, and really happy to get the win with this team. “That, I think, means a lot to me and of course for them. On that side, I'm really happy. On the other one, I just know I gave my best.” You can see on Mito’s face how devastated he is to lose his status, despite his team picking up their first win of the season. He worked so hard over the last few events, often the first and last man on the practice ground, but it just wasn’t enough. He didn’t speak about where he goes from here, but he will likely attempt to earn a contract again via LIV’s pathway systems, The International Series on the Asian Tour (the official feeder tour) or the Promotions Event (Q School). It’s unclear at the moment how many spots are up for grabs, but with the incoming LIV leadership having re-applied for OWGR status, they will likely offer as many spots as it takes to provide a genuine and authentic pathway system. One of the biggest criticisms of the LIV Golf League was the lack of jeopardy, but this season it is definitely there, and it’s brutal!

LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil said Tuesday his energy hasn't been this high since he has started. He feels there is a clear path to win. What is that path forward for LIV Golf? "For us, the priorities are really clear. First and foremost, we need to get the players settled, on board, and focusing on golf. That's first and foremost. Secondly, we have to create a plan that's a business plan, a business that works from a business standpoint, from a profit and loss standpoint, like every other business in the world, and we are well on our way to that. "Thirdly and maybe more importantly -- and I've been blessed with this my entire life -- is you surround yourself with smart, talented, experienced people. For us they came in the form of two new board members, Gene Davis and Jon Zinman. Gene has been through 350 of these, how about that? When we're on a call -- and I talk to Jon and Gene a couple times a day, sometimes more -- and I will tell you having experienced directors that understand the situation we're in, can work with urgency, pace, our very directive, our incredible sounding boards, couldn't be happier. "So you take that combination and put that with this extraordinary team I get to work with every single day, and I am lifted. I understand that -- I understand where some of your emotions are, mine are in a can do: Let's get the plan set, let's surround ourselves with extraordinary talent, and let's get after it."

The lack of perceived value of the LIV Golf League and its teams has attracted a lot of attention over the past few years. But Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC have been one of the most successful franchises and he says they’ve cleared more than $20 million in revenue: “I'll tell you from our side of the coin, that the Crushers have been doing very well. We hired a GM and we’re hiring more people this year, but it's slow. I'm not over expanding too quick, like some teams, and I feel like we're a lean, mean machine. It's done great and we've been having positive EBITDA, positive for the past few seasons and our revenue is above $20 million, which is amazing. And next year it's going to be even more. “So, I'm pretty pumped about our team, and what we have the capability of doing. You know me, I'm always optimistic. I always want to see the best in people, and want to see how to create the most value. So, all I can speak for is how I run the team and what we've done economically for the team has been.. quite amazing. “You know, it’s been a lot of work, but I'm personally stoked for how my GM is running the team and how we we're running as, you know, I can be quite honest, we're doing the best out of any team. So, I'm really, really happy about that. And, I wouldn't be doing this any other way.” The $20 million figure caught me off guard, and I’m sure it will many others. Especially with so much being reported about the lack of revenue within the league. This once again proves Bryson’s value and highlights the strong position he is in with his contract negotiations. While we’re on contacts, is Bryson bringing back Paul Casey, Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri to Crushers GC in 2026? “Yes, the same guys are coming back. Yeah, I love them to death and they're great people, great golfers.” And while we talk about changes, does Bryson think LIV Golf could improve on anything? “Yeah, I mean, there’s plenty of things that the PGA Tour could improve on, right? And I can go through a bucket of that with that tour, and I could do the same with LIV, right? “Nobody's perfect. No organisation's perfect. But I could tell you that the opportunities at LIV and the ability to grow team golf is so intriguing and so interesting to me that that's where I stake my home and ground there. It’s where I want to be, but ultimately, it's got to make sense for everybody. Because I could just do YouTube golf and be totally fine as well.” He went on develop that answer when asked about whether he thinks a deal to renew his contact could be completed before the first event of the LIV Golf League season in Riyadh, in February: “I don't know about before Riyadh, there's a lot of things to go through.. You know, it's a scenario that is very unique. With Brooks leaving it definitely throws in some unique things. And look, I mean, like I've said all along, I want to do this, I want to grow team golf across the globe. But it has to be right. And there's a lot of things that have to be done in order for it to be right, you know? “Things have got to change. Things have got to improve. And I think Scott's done a fabulous job with the year that he's had. And I think this year's going to be even better, now he's got the right people in place and he can run the organisation, the way he wants to do this here. So it's going to be interesting to see, especially with the new branding coming on. It's going to be interesting to see what happens. “I don't run this thing at all. I don't really have much say to be honest with you. Which is funny, but it is what it is, right? And, you know, I sometimes wish I had more say, but that's life and I don't run the organisation and I trust them to do that. “Ultimately, I just go play golf and try to entertain as best as I possibly can. So I trust Scott and Katie and Chris, everybody there to make the right decisions and continue to go forward with that. And we'll see what the year has in store for us.” Bryson DeChambeau
