A solid quick breakdown of the apparent multiple power failures on the 'Dali' ahead of impact with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, MD. I'm looking to credit whoever created this. (Dm)

The ship appears to turn into the bridge at the end, but it really doesn’t. The thick smoke is gunning the engines in full reverse, trying to slow down. When a large ship puts engine in reverse you end up with “prop walk”, if the starboard and port engines aren’t making exactly the same thrust the stern of the ship will swing to one side or the other. This isn’t a problem when engines are in forward because the rudder can keep the ship straight, which it can’t do when engines are in reverse but ship is still moving forward.

During the power losses, the ship appeared to be 15 to 20 degrees away from the pillar. Why the sudden 15-20 degree turn to starboard placing the bow of the ship head-on for a collision course?

the bridge piers look far too flimsy and have insufficient protection from errant ships.

Worth noting that on a boat like that motive power and electrical power are produced by 2 completely different systems But losing all navigation will be disorientating and it would take time for systems to reboot

The Smoke coming out of the funnel is also oddly dark, could that be some indication of an engine room fire?
