The vet had been honest with the Hollands. Baxter didn't have much time left, and the kindest thing they could do now was make whatever he had left count. So on a warm Saturday in June , instead of a normal quiet day at home, they loaded the old Bernese into the back of the van and drove him two hours to the coast. Baxter had never seen the ocean. He was 13, and his whole life had been the backyard and the same worn spot on the living room rug. The kids wanted him to see something big before he went. He moved slow getting out of the van. His back legs weren't what they used to be, and the boys had to help him down onto the sand. For a second he just stood there at the top of the beach, nose up, taking in all that salt air and open water like he couldn't quite believe it. Then something in him shifted. He started down toward the surf on his own, stiff and determined, the way he used to trot to the door when the kids came home from school. When the first cold wave washed over his paws, his whole face lit up. He didn't run, he couldn't, but he waded in up to his chest and stood in the shallow water with the sun going down behind him, and the whole family just watched. Nobody said much. They didn't need to. They stayed until the light was almost gone, taking pictures, letting Baxter rest against their legs, giving him one perfect afternoon to hold onto. The vet was right about the time. Baxter left them a few weeks later, at home, surrounded by the people who loved him. But he saw the ocean first. And every one of them is glad they gave him that.

It's been a really tough season for Martin Odegaard. Horrible, unfortunate injuries. In and out of the team, constantly being questioned. He'll admit it himself that at times he hasn't been at his best when he has been fit and available. But that cameo today off the bench, that assist for Trossard.... The way he took responsibility, went and got the ball, broke the game open and made the decisive moment happen. Outstanding. A captain's moment when his team needed him the most. You could see what it meant to him.

Trooper’s journey is an absolute miracle. We rescued him at just 7 months old after he had eaten ropes and coconut husks out of pure desperation on the streets. Things were incredibly dire. His small intestine had been twisted for about 10 days and had actually started to rot. The surgery to save him was brutal. The doctor found 150 ml of inflammatory fluid in his abdomen, and his spleen and pancreas were severely inflamed. They had to remove about 1.2 meters of his intestine, leaving him with only a tiny fraction of what a normal dog has. He was in critical care for a week, but those amazing vets saved his life! Fast forward almost a year: Trooper is a super healthy, incredibly happy boy. Because his intestine is now so short, he has some trouble with nutrient absorption and requires a special diet of easily digested food and supplements for the rest of his life. But honestly? None of that phases him. We took him to the beach today, and seeing the pure joy on his face makes every hard day worth it. Keep thriving, Trooper! 🏖️❤️

this was so unnecessarily cruel. to shun peter out of his own home, not letting him in even when he scratches at the door. to force him to go into the peter house. and to not even let him back in when a storm lashes at him outside. what was lois thinking... this makes me sick...

Sergio “Kun” Agüero revealed in a livestream that Messi and the Argentina coach did clash after the World Cup final loss to Spain and also talked about how Messi’s teammates let him down. “I honestly didn’t like how things ended in the final with the national team, especially with Messi having a disagreement with Lionel Scaloni. Messi told me he had a clash with Scaloni over the coach’s tactics and how he handled the match. Messi told him there was no way they could sit back and let Spain have all the ball because they were going to lose that way, but the coach still insisted on playing a low block while waiting for a counter. I mean, who the hell goes against the words of the greatest player in the world? Messi sees the game differently, but the coach was too full of pride to follow his advice. Enzo’s challenge was very reckless. When you already have a yellow card, you still went for that type of tackle. Argentina had already lost the game before the final even kicked off, and it’s just so sad how Lionel Scaloni and the teammates let Leo down in his last World Cup after everything he has done for the national team.”

Baltimore, Md. — Patrick Brice, 28, who was caught on video brutally beating two elderly pro-life activists outside of a Planned Parenthood in May 2023, was sentenced this week to only one year of home detention and three years of probation. The prosecution recommended a 10-year sentence after Brice was found guilty of two counts of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, but Circuit Judge Yvette M. Bryant rejected the sentence recommendation and gave him a much lighter sentence. One 73-year-old victim spent three days in a Trauma Center with an orbital fracture. The attack has left him with permanent damage to his eye. The other victim was 84 at the time of the attack.

Liam Greentree had a two-assist game last night. Good for him but, also, this has to be some of the worst PKing i've seen at any level of hockey.

Kylian Mbappé was asked in a recent interview how he felt about Lionel Messi during the World Cup. “I never got the chance to go head-to-head with him on that stage, and honestly I wanted it,” Mbappé said. “I wanted that final. I wanted to line up against him and put him in his place when the whole world was watching.” He didn’t hold back: “FIFA has spent years protecting him. The system bends over backwards for him and everyone in the game knows it. He’s a fraud who’s been carried by referees and media narratives for far too long. We all knew how he rigged the 2022 World Cup. FIFA is always in his favour.” Mbappé added: “Guys like him get treated like they’re untouchable while the rest of us have to fight for every scrap of recognition. It’s a complete farce.”
