No person forfeits their right to life, dignity or their status as a human being because they are alleged to have violated a law. This is a defining feature of our Constitution that sets us apart as a nation of due process and the rule of law. We will not tolerate anyone using allegations related to any person’s nationality or immigration status to violate their inherent human dignity and our Constitution, or to inflict damage on our society. It simply cannot and will not stand.

Our students shouldn't be terrified of just walking into their schools. HB836 makes it clear that no child will be denied a free public education because of citizenship status. Public schools exist to educate our children, not to police our families. Schools should be safe places where kids can focus on learning, growing, and building their futures, not places where families fear deportation. Together we are guaranteeing every child in Virginia the right to an education. 📚

This means vaccine status can no longer be used in hiring, promotions, or disciplinary actions. That’s what medical freedom looks like. When I was elected in Pickering, one of my first fights — and wins — was ending the City’s demand that job applicants disclose private vaccine status. Your medical history is your business, not your employer’s. For too long, people lost jobs, careers, and dignity for saying no. Some leaders even travelled abroad while lecturing you to stay home. Freedom can be taken in an instant — but it can also be restored when leaders have the courage to act. Canada, I sure hope you are you watching?
