I still can’t figure out whether you’re the drum, the detergent, or the spin cycle of the BJP’s legendary (or should I say notorious?) “washing machine.” But your intellectual masterclass in image-laundering Ritabrata Banerjee is certainly worthy of applause from the newly discovered species called the “Good Trinamool” and the Bengal BJP leadership. And now that everyone apparently emerges from the BJP washing machine with a certificate of moral purity, Narayan Swaroop Nigam being just one example, perhaps you could extend the same courtesy to Ritabrata Banerjee. Why stop halfway? Since his election affidavit already discloses several pending criminal cases, including allegations under provisions relating to offences against women, perhaps your next intellectual paper can simply recommend that everyone stop asking questions altogether. I also remember when Kajari Banerjee wasn’t yet classified under the prestigious “Good Trinamool” category. Back then, the BJP was deeply concerned about how a “social worker” could accumulate assets worth around ₹5 crore. Fascinatingly, Ritabrata Banerjee’s own election affidavit declares assets of approximately ₹3.32 crore while describing himself as a “social worker.” Is intellectual curiosity selective now, or has consistency also been sent through the washing machine? At this point, one doesn’t need to be Einstein, or even Nitin Gadkari, to realise that principles in Bengal BJP politics seem to come with expiry dates. Yesterday’s symbol of corruption becomes today’s distinguished colleague, and today’s outrage becomes tomorrow’s press conference. What a remarkable journey of ideological evolution. Anyway, I’ll eagerly await your next series of “intellectual” essays explaining why Firhad Hakim, Javed Khan, Debashish Kumar, Bapi Haldar, and every other politically convenient entrant also deserve freshly ironed halos. Beg to differ after what happened in Delhi. Rito can't be the face of opp. BJP govt needs a opposition who doesn't sing praises. A clean face or someone who's liberal to divide that 35-40% opp votebank to keep Left away. Shouldn't let the Red revive. Worst ideology.
