Update on Rosie. She survived her traumatic birth. And rejection from the mom hen. She has been kept inside in a very fancy brooder box with temp controls. And of course, she has a couple of friends to keep her company. Unfortunately she was born with a condition called “splayed leg”. We splinted the legs together with a bandaid for over a week, and gave her special vitamins with no luck. She is now our forever disabled, gimpy chicken. She turned a very pretty grey. Darius has become very attached and has said that if the flock rejects her (which they likely will), she will become our pet disabled chicken. He says if she turns out to be a rooster, her name will change to rosebud. 😂
