This is disgusting, but I have never had a landlord that was honest about a security deposit. There is normal wear and tear, yet tenants typically get charged for that. It’s criminal, but so is what this tenant did

landlords are constantly looking for any reason to not give back a security deposit as it is so this honestly feels deserved.
Dialogue could have solved some of these things. Landlord should have been reasonable and now he's paying $3k instead of $1.5k
