A terrifying roller coaster rescue is underway in Galveston, Texas Thursday. A car became stuck on a vertical track, leaving eight people dangling at the very top of the ride. Firefighters are using a long-ladder truck to reach the riders several stories above the ground. Crews are working to... show more

"making sure they're calm with the situation" they better be handing out free Xanax or something

Here. Try this instead. Much better I promise.

I cannot imagine the terror, just sitting there, upside down, and you have to wait for rescue to come. Then you have to find the courage to probably do the scariest thing you’ve ever done.

This is what nightmares are made of. Glad to hear they are safe. Kudos to the first responders.

The second I realized we were stuck i’d be begging someone to kill me

@MaySantos516 I’d be holding on for dear life, because I’d think that the seat belt or the lock mechanism would malfunction just like the ride itself. I’d die of a heart attack up there.

@Steve09812 I may not make it, my fear of heights would possible stop my heart. 😩

"we're going to have to unlock the safety bar that goes across their laps to get them out" 😳😳😳😳

These guys are on the case

It took more than 2 hours to rescue them? Those poor people.

Frightening - but a HUGE well done to the firefighters and all involved in getting those poor people down. Never liked roller coasters, wouldn't get me on one.

My decision to just not get on these fucking things in the first place looks better and better every day. Seriously, it ain't fucking worth it, you want a rush, drive fast on a straight road or ride a bicycle down a hill or something.

Just why would you ever go on these shits

Idiot Fox 26 live reporter called it Gulf of America on air.

The only thing that could possibly make this worse is if they were facing down

3 roller coaster incidents in the past few weeks? Sounds like these companies cut corners with their maintenance checks before opening this season, and it's catching up each of them.

@zackaryurban

Welp, no more roller coasters for me.

If this hasn't scared the livin' piss out of you, nothing will. Lot's of bad rollercoasters these days. Ist Siren's Curse in Sandusky, OH, 2nd Six Flags over Texas, Now this one, Also in Texas.

The physics is irrefutable. Every G-Force has been calculated. The stress along every millimeter of the track has been determined. The strength of the bolt connections has been tested. And then you collect a group of people making 1/4 of the money of the physicists and engineers who designed it to construct it. And then you wait for nature to show you the difference between design and application.

@FLAHUSTLA This is exactly why I don't ride rollercoasters! Especially when the maintenance crew consists of rejects who rode the short bus.

@SadTomato17 Why I ride only the carousel.

If that were me I’d be wanting strong male firies, no dei 5ft females thanks.

Nightmare fuel

@JimBonz This is one of my biggest fears

Good Lord! NOOOOOOOOOO !!!

Lives literally hanging on a balance,I hope they are all fine. No amount of ‘‘Babe! you need to be spontaneous, stop being boring’’ will ever make me do this.

Ok this is like the 3rd ride I’ve seen breaking down or being stuck in the past few weeks… wtf is going on?

Every other week this happens somewhere in the world. Sometimes people die. Isn’t it time for the penny to drop? It’s fundamentally stupid to go on these wild rides, at some point you’re inviting fate to play a hand

This reminds of the Demon Drop ride at Cedar Point.
