Some personnel of the anti-robbery unit of the Ghana Police Service quickly responded and were involved in a standoff against an unidentified group of armed robbers at the Rahama Forex Bureau LTD in Lapaz, following a foiled robbery attempt. Eyewitness reports indicate a female staff of the forex bureau was held hostage whilst police attempted a rescue and arrest of the group.

According to reports, the victim had withdrawn the money from a bank near Meridian Bank when an armed suspect allegedly seized it and fled in a Toyota RAV4. A chase ensued involving a BMW, but the getaway vehicle reportedly crashed into a tree after taking a wrong turn. One suspect was apprehended, while the others allegedly escaped with the stolen money. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.

According to City Police Sergeant Nelly Nelilwa, who was present at the scene, the suspect and his accomplice attempted to rob the woman of her phone and other valuables while she was purchasing fruits and vegetables from street vendors on Dr. Kuaima Riruako Street. A community member intervened, shooting one of the suspects in the leg and successfully chasing down and apprehending the other. The suspects were found in possession of two pangas. VIDEO - AIR SUPPORT UNIT ASSISTS IN ARRESTS FOLLOWING JEWELRY STORE ROBBERY IN RICHMOND HILL Offices responded to a jewelry store robbery in the area of Yonge St and Levendale Rd in Richmond Hill yesterday, shortly after 3:30 p.m. Three suspects were seen using hammers to smash glass cases. A quantity of jewelry was stolen and the suspects fled in a silver SUV driven by a fourth suspect. One employee received minor injuries after being assaulted by one of the suspects. Using out Air Support Unit helicopter, Air2, the vehicle was located in the City of Toronto where the suspects fled but were quickly taken into custody. The vehicle used by the suspects was confirmed to be stolen. Of the four suspects charged, Marlando MITCHELL, 24 of Brampton, and the two youths, were out on a combined 10 release orders at the time of the incident. One of the youths was also on probation. “The teamwork demonstrated by York Regional Police is a testament to the professionalism and commitment our officers have in pursuing individuals who commit violent acts in our communities,” states Police Chief Jim MacSween. “Of the four suspects arrested, one adult and two youths were out on release orders. West Central Railway CPRO Harshit Srivastava says, "The incident occurred on the evening of 17th October. At Jabalpur station, a vendor snatched the watch of a passenger after he made a purchase from him.
