This idea comes from the Law of Attraction, a New Age metaphysical belief, rather than from any scientific principle in physics. The 17-second rule is often attributed to Abraham-Hicks, a popular Law of Attraction teaching, which claims that if you focus on a thought for at least 17 seconds, it begins to gain momentum, and after 68 seconds of pure focus, manifestation begins. However, this concept has no basis in quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, or any established scientific field. Physics does acknowledge that thoughts are associated with brain activity, which involves electrical impulses and electromagnetic waves, but there is no scientific evidence that mere thought alone can influence reality in the way the 17-second rule suggests.
