@bhorowitz Enable those in extreme financial duress to discharge their student loan obligations in bankruptcy and leave that policy in place. Universities will rapidly learn how to be far more careful with their degrees and the costs with which they saddle their students.

Minor point: grades don't inflate only bc instructors cbf to deal with sore losers or bad teaching evals. Butts in seats = revenue for the university. So you'll only get actually challenging courses in senior year. Some depts will then fail out a bunch, including the ESL foreign full fee students, some won't. If they do, there will be a local cottage industry of counterfeit diplomas at a reasonable price.

@bhorowitz As an insider, I can say you guys have exposed the challenges of "Higher-Ed industrial complex". Eager to hear the solutions in the next episode. To name a few, removing SAT/GRE, lax grading at many universities is one of the worst things with significant second order effects.

@bhorowitz At the very end, you mentioned trying not to become political. The trick is, political is 95% what they have become. It is almost like, let us talk about every issue except the 95% topic. That is why I would never allow my children anywhere near one of those places 🤷🏻‍♂️

@bhorowitz isn't it funny how, 30 years ago the challenge was declining quality of public k-12 schools and gates et al threw all this money at it, and not only do we still have the problem, it's metastasized upwards to the university system and outwards into teachers, libraries
