It is literally for taxes. If you are married, you have a better tax bracket. Trust me I am subsidizing double what a married man is at my income. Found that out and I am not happy that because I am not married I have to pay double in taxes as someone that is. Makes no sense. Tax brackets should stay the same all the way through or shit you shouldn't be taxed until your household reaches 100k a year and you are only taxed after that. That would be a change people can get behind in my opinion.
