Ekaterina Duntsova, 40, from Tver region, editor-in-chief of the local TV studio, local politician and mom of three, has announced her candidacy for the Russian presidential "elections" next spring. I will watch the situation with her carefully and will report here about news about Duntsova. Keep reading to find out more about her. Ekaterina Duntsova, a resident of Rzhev town in Tver region of Russia, announced she would be running for president on November 16. She said she would be the advocate for stopping combat, democratic reforms, and release of political prisoners. Her candidacy was supported by the Nash Shtab project, which was created by a group of the "Ark Project" staff in October to support anti-war presidential candidates. After that, posts promoting Duntzova's candidacy were shared on dozens of Russian Telegram channels. Five days after making her announcement, Duntsova was summoned to the Russian prosecutor's office and questioned about her attitude toward the war in Ukraine. According to Duntsova, she was questioned about her candidacy and her attitude to the war in Ukraine. Afterwards, she signed an explanatory statement in which she confirmed that the VKontakte (Russian social media) page belonged to her and gave a general explanation. ▪️ As reported by Duntzova herself, she is 40 years old and has three children. According to her VKontakte social network page, she has been working in the media in Rzhev since 2003 and was editor-in-chief of the local TV studio RIT from 2006 to 2022. In 2019 she was elected deputy of the City Duma, where she worked until 2022. ▪️ According to Duntsova's VKontakte posts, since 2016 she has actively supported the city's main "United Russia" (leading political party in Russia) political party member Roman Krylov: she voted for him in the party's primaries during his nomination to the regional parliament, and as a deputy, she supported his appointment as the city's head. She also reposted Krylov's call to vote in the 2018 presidential election and urged people to vote in 2020 on constitutional amendments that nullified presidential terms (she voted against it). ▪️ Duntsova explained her support for the member of the United Russia party Krylov by saying that at the local level, what is more important to her is the connections, competencies, and qualities a person possesses, rather than which political force he or she belongs to. She also noted that in politics it is necessary to interact with different parties, otherwise it is impossible to solve some important issues for citizens. Speaking about voting on amendments to the Constitution, Duntsova said that she believes it is necessary to participate in all elections and referendums. The Nash Shtab project, which supported Duntsova, was created in October by a group of the "Ark's" associates. The project is reportedly ready to support any candidate with an anti-war stance who advocates democratic reforms, an immediate end to the war and the release of political prisoners. Candidates are promised assistance in collecting signatures and organizing election campaigns. ▪️ A member of Nash Shtab Burakova told the Russian media agency that they have interviewed 14 potential candidates and so far only Duntsova has accepted all their terms. For now, they are helping her with her website, design and social media campaign, and in January they will start collecting signatures for her nomination, which will take place all over the world, she added. According to her, the project has no funding at the moment and operates only thanks to volunteers, but private donors are now being sought. She said the advertising posts that have appeared on major Telegram channels are free of charge and explained them as the work of volunteers who have the necessary connections.
