BREAKING: Today, a Ukrainian Air Force MiG-29 9.13 successfully intercepted and shot down a Russian Geran-4 jet-powered one-way attack drone. Rare footage shows the MiG-29 intercepting and chasing the Geran-4 at extremely low altitude. In the left-hand footage, the fighter can be seen pursuing the drone close to the ground, while the right-hand footage captures the successful engagement and the MiG-29 subsequently flying over the burning wreckage of the destroyed drone. It is not yet known whether the Geran-4 was destroyed with an air-to-air missile or the MiG-29’s 30mm GSh-30-1 cannon. The interception comes as Russia is sharply increasing its use of faster, jet-powered Geran variants against Ukraine.

This is now the sixth publicly shown interception of a Russian Geran-5 by a Ukrainian drone interceptor. The interceptor remains unnamed, but judging by its interface it appears to be different from the three models shown previously. If so, this would make it the fourth interceptor type publicly demonstrated against Geran-5. This would mean the 1020th Regiment now operates at least two different high-speed interceptor models: STING S and this new system. Unlike previous interceptions, engagement details were disclosed: the Geran-5 was engaged at 425 km/h and an altitude of over 3 km.

STING S takes down a Geran-5 jet-powered drone-missile ❗️💥 The crew from the 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment took down a Russian Geran-5 using the new STING S. This drone is faster and carries a larger explosive payload than other Geran variants. Big thanks to the military for their expert work! More to come 😎

Russian footage shows the interception of an unusual Ukrainian aerostat equipped with Starlink and carrying an FPV drone, reportedly at an altitude of around 10 km. Such a carrier allows an FPV to be transported deep into the Russian rear before being deployed, giving it a strike reach far beyond what the drone could achieve using its own flight range alone.
