He reminded him that Western civilization gave everyone who is a progressive "the things they should be most proud of." The president pushed back and said: No, college professors are totally teaching Western civilization = good. Maher didn’t believe him. Bill Maher: “Since I have been covering news and especially the Middle East, even before that, Israel was known as an ‘outpost of Western civilization.’” Michael Roth: “Yes, it was.” Maher: “And that’s what it was called.
