Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch, and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Ms. Natalie Baker were also present. During the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed both U.S. Congressmen to Pakistan and said that their visit was a welcome step towards building stronger Pakistan-U.S. ties. While congratulating the Congressmen and the American people on the 250th anniversary of U.S. Independence, the Prime Minister also conveyed his warm regards and best wishes for President Donald Trump. The Prime Minister fondly recalled President Trump’s bold and decisive intervention that led to cessation of hostilities and ceasefire between Pakistan and India in May 2025, and helped saved hundreds of millions of lives. Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Ishaq Dar today received the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev. The two sides held a productive exchange on the SCO priorities and ways to further strengthen cooperation among Member States in key areas, including economy, transport, and connectivity. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments. The Secretary-General commended Pakistan’s constructive contributions to promoting regional peace, stability, and cooperation. The Secretary-General shared his perspective and proposals for further enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the SCO, and briefed the DPM/FM on preparations for the forthcoming SCO Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) Meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. DPM/FM reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to advancing the SCO’s objectives. He expressed readiness to work closely with all Member States ahead of Pakistan assuming the Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) in September 2026 and hosting the SCO Summit in 2027.
