⚽️ Day 54 of building my football game solo in Unreal Engine 5. I made enhancements to a bug that many in the community have called out for a few weeks: 🥾 A player's boot would plant on the ground and slide a foot or two before lifting off the ground 🎿This made it look like players were ice skating on the pitch. ✔️The fix was a mix of animation playback speed and implementing a technique called stride warping. The plant foot still moves slightly forward once it lands on the ground, but it's not as dramatic as before. The video highlights a few clips in full speed and at 10% of full speed. 🚨🇬🇭Mubarak Wakaso has been out of action for a while, but the intensity hasn’t dropped one bit. Whether it’s warm-ups or high-tempo sessions, the energy looks like a man on a mission every single time he steps on the pitch. Two years on the sidelines could slow most players down. But for Wakaso, it looks like it’s only sharpened the hunger. The movement, the sweat, the focus, everything screams a player who refuses to fade quietly. But the incident ended far less dramatically than feared: the stolen Cessna 172 never reached the plant. Minutes later, it made a crash landing in a field near the village of Gerjen. Its landing gear was damaged, and the aircraft ended up lying on its side. The person at the controls was reportedly a pilot in an unstable condition. According to local media, no one was injured. While it looks colourful, it has to be one of the world's worst invasive species. It was brought to India as an ornamental shrub in the 18th century, but it has now spread like a disease across 13 million hectares of priceless forest land and pastures. The worst part is that this plant releases chemicals that harm the growth of native plant species. It's also toxic, so cows, goats, etc., can't eat it. The problem has become so bad that in the Nilgiris, it's become impossible to get rid of this plant. There's some hope with organizations like Atree and the Shola Trust (both supported by Rainmatter Foundation) working on turning this harmful shrub into furniture and biomass. Perhaps the most iconic transformation of the plant is the Lantana elephant, which you might have seen at the airports. These two squirrels living in that little wooden box are exactly like every couple that claims they can’t survive without each other. One minute they’re all pressed up against each other like the world is ending if they separate for three seconds, next minute one is pushing the other off the shelf and defending the soft nesting stuff like it’s the last blanket in the house. Same energy as humans arguing over who left the lights on or who ate the last piece of chicken then five minutes later acting like they invented romance. They’ll fight, chase each other around the box, then curl right back up like nothing happened. Animals or people, doesn’t matter, the script is identical. I keep watching like I’m checking on my own neighbors through the window. Ridiculous and somehow still kind of perfect
