A warning to international users using Courtyard... They just quoted me $2,000 to redeem 14 slabs! Not to buy them. Not to grade them. Just to get cards I already own sent to me. That is insane.

We'd charge around $80 for this since youre across the pond ;)

I mean this is how it’s done. ❤️

We charge zero fees on intake and outtake from all cards in our vault 🫡

awesome have some redeeming to do with you guys! Can’t seem to view all my collectibles if anyone can support the AI got caught in a loop.

would love you to explain this to me and other international users...

Hi Jack, happy to clarify. Your quote is the pure cost of shipping plus taxes/duties based on your location. There are 0 added fees. Insurance is optional and there to protect your shipment. We don’t add redemption fees, mark up shipping, or hide costs. It's purely by the book. Feel free to DM with any questions.

Thank you for reaching out. This is madness to me, especially considering other competitors seem to be charging significantly less so there must be a workaround, which should at least be a choice for the user. Do you not think it’s worth clarifying for international users how high the shipment cost will be on a pack being ripped if they want what’s inside?

Of course, and appreciate the feedback! Happy to pass the suggestion along to the team. Can’t speak for others but our quote reflects the real cost of shipping and required taxes/duties with no markup. We didn't get to where we are by cutting corners or creating risk for users to make a quote look cheaper.

Thanks Jake, it looks like US users get to make that choice themselves all I’d ask is international users get to make the same decision.

Totally hear you. To clarify, it’s not that US users are getting a different choice. Our vault is in Delaware, so US redemptions don’t trigger sales tax the same way. International shipments are subject to destination taxes/duties outside our control. But like I mentioned will definitely share the feedback with the team.

Thanks Jake won’t keep harping on here appreciate you reaching out genuinely.

from my experience it seems like shipment coverage was enabled and high value slabs were being redeemed, you can choose to have your slabs covered in case anything happens to them in shipment, and it’s based on the value of the slabs themselves

Nope or at least nothing clarifies any time of shipment coverage anywhere on the email. Or on their site. Which is part of the problem.

weird, cause yeah i’ve never once had issues w/ CY shipment, all my shipment costs for similar size redemptions are like $10-$20 total

Must be some kind of mistake but I got two quotes similar prices

Yikes...

@Collector_Crypt shipped mine internationally for $27 (3 slabs i think) unmatched user experience 🥰

@Collector_Crypt All the CC fans in here at least people will know where to go

whaaaat??

2K for shipping slabs... crazy work

Blame UK import charges seems excessive though

Yeh seems to be the explanation everyone has. They need to warn users tho before they drop money on their platform. Just a pop up explaining if you’re outside the US and actually want these products it’s gonna cost you a lot to claim. Also the fact other platforms have found ways around this is sus

Il ping ya

🫡

prepaid import duties most probably, no need to fud before actually confirming with them 🙆♂️

the fact they don't explain the costs in the email in anyway or the site is the warning, not fud. Think any international user will want to know how high the extra costs are regardless of their reasoning...

Holy shit

My reaction exactly

@EVNFT 😱⚰️

just got 85 items shipped to Italy from USA by @Fanatics (bought them for 2k$, 1997$ precisely) i paid 189$ (110$ delivery and 79$ claim fees), when they arrived i had to pay 673$ (vat+import taxes)

It's most likely import duties/insurance, which from personal experience was ~10% (my country's rate) of whatever I paid for the slab on courtyard. If you spent it on a $1000 pack, then the import duty would be a percentage off that amount instead of the actual value of the slab

That needs to be way clearer if true. Before you drop a band on a pack as an international user. Can’t find that information anywhere.

Yeh I was quoted $350 for a PSA 10 Umbreon early last yr and at the time was the value of the card. In hindsight I’m the idiot cos that card is so valuable now but why I sold everything off courtyard I had earlier this year, I just couldn’t redeem it

ridiculous & then they get to take it off your hands at discount and no need to source another card...

Yep I even questioned it a few times… I have been a user since late 2024. It’s sad. I even have stuff in my wallet I can’t list so there’s either an error or they never moved off my profile and I sold them but I can’t find where I did. Low key gave up, go on scratch the itch from time to time but hard to justify now (plus I used to love it was profitable but now it’s like L L L lol

That sucks…

Yeh it’s actually a decent platform outside of this but the postage has always been horrific outside of US I think it’s to do with the level of service they use end to end (top tier security package whatever it’s called)

at least give people an option I've used a bunch of other services at literally a 10th of the cost...

Same haha

I paid like $15 to redeem 4k worth of slabs on @Collector_Crypt Time to pivot

@Collector_Crypt Yep they just commented saying the same delivery would have be $80 😆 Huge flex

Got quoted 57$ on 400$ worth of cards (2 Slabs) on @Beezie Thats 14% of the value just to redeem. 😭

@Beezie My experience is the exact opposite! So weird

@Beezie May be better for international, but for domestic this feels like abuse.

Maybe import duties? If we don’t know the value of what you’re trying to redeem then it’s hard to say. Also you can just ask them yourself or I’m sure they have an explanation page somewhere

@AGutiGarcia tried to reach out their email option is broken. likely import duties but as I explain in the video I've used other service at similar volumes and the charges are nowhere near the prices quoted.

I’m sure @Courtyard_io will hook it up! Good luck 🍀

@Courtyard_io 🙏🙏🙏

or you can just send them to your friend in the states and have them ship

@quadzillatd will you help a podcast homie out? 🫶

@notjoints Yeah I got you!

@notjoints 🫶🫶🫶

If they declare full value and others don’t that explains the difference.

Doesn’t explain why US redemptions are significantly cheaper

Of course it does. Shipping to the UK is insane with FedEx/DHL and UPS at the moment. Have the same issue with some of our Japanese shipments. Some companies declare 100% value - some don’t. They’re taking the risk. But the ones charging 100% aren’t at fault.

They’re not disclosing the costs or breaking them down in anyway just a flat 2K charge. This is catching people off guard. Whether it’s their fault or not isn’t the point of the video, the point is expect a heavy charge and don’t expect an explanation.

Maybe give a try. - 100% FMV sell back - $10 intl shipping (you pay customs yourself) - Raw singles for all TCGs + slabs for sports - Actual transparent odds on each individual card - OG in the space (3+ yrs old) - 4.4/5 stars on Trustpilot w/ 1K reviews

Smells like a ripoff

@Collector_Crypt best fees

What was the value of the slab's you were sending yourself? My shipments have cost $12, and $40 when i wanted to insure it.

not sure I'm comfortable sharing the exact value due to all the crime going on in the TCG world right now but lets just say yes it was high, this was not insured shipment.

So pretty significant I guess. Personally wouldn't want tons of stuff worth more than like $500 boxed together/not insured.

Also, if you don’t mind, tiny shill for PCG! @MTG_AlphaInvest is grinding to compete with the big guys and it shows. Check em out if you got cards to grade! Here’s my referral link 🔗:

You could probably have someone personally fly them out to you for less.

I bet I could 😆 or just fly out and get em

Don’t find that on PokeRoll

The reason why I advocate for @Beezie and @phygitals Shipping is secure and not absurd

@Beezie @phygitals Yep used both and neither charge anywhere near these values

I also was going to buy some on courtyard but now im not so sure. Thats disturbing and seems slimy to me.

Actually an incredibly useful video. I was just trying to look up online what's the best pack ripping app to use in Australia and courtyard kept poppping up. But at 2k shipping i don't think im going to try it out. What would you recommend for lower shipping apps?

so they all vary and they seem to review on an individual bases but what I've used so far is @Beezie @Collector_Crypt but still researching others. theyre just the two Ive had reasonable shipment quotes from so far. @gacha_game_ looks promising

@Beezie @Collector_Crypt @gacha_game_ Ahh Beezie was the original one i think? or the first one i ever remember seeing show up on twitter. I wonder if anyone from those quoted apps could let me know if they actually ship to Australia in general.

I was planning to start collecting TCGs on @Courtyard_io this month, so I’m glad I found your video first. Thanks for sharing this. I’m putting my plans on hold until there’s more clarity on the situation. I also saw mentions of @phygitals and @Collector_Crypt . I know both projects, but I haven’t researched them deeply yet. I’ll be looking into them more before making a decision. As an Asian collector, I’d love to hear if you have any other recommendations worth checking out. ✌️

@FlowSt8 @Courtyard_io @phygitals @Collector_Crypt Those two seem very legit I actually interviewed the @Collector_Crypt team when I was in Miami so can confirm there legitimacy @Beezie & @gacha_game_ are the others worth checking out for fair international shipment costs.

Yeah these virtual pack opening things are either going to bring back NFTs or they’re going to fail miserably because it defeats the whole purpose of collecting if you can’t hold your own cards

I mean it depends how many cards you hold I guess. We’re seeing a ton of break ins a thefts globally with TCGs might be worth storing them offsite in certain instances and still being able to flex you own the stuff. The issue is wanting to trade up at card shows or hold the grails IRL

Yeah that’s the same issue with anything valuable though. Nobody says you can’t just get a safe and put your cards in it.

not true people have way more cards than any other collector type for the most part, it'd have to be a pretty big safe for some of the collectors

They make big safes!

😆 They do but I still wouldn’t feel safe, watches etc you can’t just break the slab regrade and have a brand new stolen item. Also then what’s the point of having it at home 😅

Quick access and not having to pay shipping whenever you want to sell or trade one of your cards. I’m saying if you have a collection worth hundreds of thousands or millions chances are you can afford a giant safe to keep them in when you’re sleeping

Shipping insurance costs?

people are screenshotting US deliveries at $10 so I dont think so...
