A warning to MSTR investors

Love this. I always feel conflicted because I find $MSTR's financial strategy intellectually stimulating (so naturally, I talk about it a lot on here). But if someone is reading this who is a Strategy HODLer but not a Bitcoin HODLer you....well you might have lost the plot.

Great video. But I use MSTR so I can have BTC exposure that I can sell in an emergency and it not be a taxable event. Selling £5k of MSTR costs nothing, selling £5k of BTC and I’ve gotta pay 24% in capital gains tax.

How does this work?

MSTR gains in a TFSA are tax free where as you can't hold BTC in TFSA or RRSP accounts. I would rather not pay taxes on my gains

Agreed. MSTR is for investing/trading/options. BTC is for retirement savings and generational wealth held in self-custody. I'd say once one has a relatively decent stack of BTC, MSTR is a nice investment to start considering. Self-custody BTC is always the base layer.

I would never do mstr over an etf. You have said most of this but, because the ETF is supposed to sell when you sell. That allows liquidity for all to exit. mstr will keep "your coins" and never sell them ultimately enriching themselves when Bitcoin wins. When MSTR gets more %, then all Bitcoiners lose overall because we the people have less bitcoin in the end. It's an attack on Bitocin and far worse than an EFT IMO. Coinbase or any particular company can be captures and/or nationalized. There is SO MUCH RISK. I wouldn't buy it on principle. Stop being greedy and if you like Bitcoin figure out why it's so great. It's so much bigger than NGU.
