Kenya-France 'Defence Cooperation': At What Cost? Kenya has signed a “Defence Cooperation Agreement” with France, which has now been opened to the public for scrutiny. The agreement, signed on 29 October 2025 by Kenya Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya and French Ambassador to Kenya Arnaud Suquet, has been officially framed as being mutually beneficial to the two countries. But barely buried in its fine print is a dangerous clause that grants French soldiers deployed to Kenya the same privileges and immunities enjoyed by foreign diplomats – effectively shielding them from Kenyan law. The country’s long and troubled history with military arrangements involving Western nations offers a sobering warning about just how dangerous this clause is. In 2012, Kenyan citizen Tilam Leresh was murdered by a British soldier. As of October 2025, the British government has yet to prosecute her killer. That same year, Agnes Wanjiru, another Kenyan, was also murdered by a British soldier. Her case too has yet to see justice. It remains to be seen whether Kenya’s Parliament will approve the controversial clause, and we are left, in the meantime, to ponder the question of whose interests Kenya’s current government really serves.

BREAKING: Trump just said that he is considering giving 20% of DOGE savings to Americans and 20% to paying down our debt…. Where is the other 60% going? This is just stupid. Our debt will continue to rise even if Doge saves us $1 Trillion a year. Why the hell would you go further into debt by handing out money to people, which is inflationary. The point of DOGE was to pay down our debt.

Money is debt, and debt is money. It confuses a lot of people when I say that, but the mechanics are fairly straightforward. A debt instrument is just a promise to deliver money in the future. What that money is worth determines the value of what you’re holding. That’s why currency valuation is so critical, and why I think people need to pay more attention to it when thinking about the broader economy. Nikhil Kamath

Just like a person, if you spend too much — you eventually go bankrupt. The federal debt is growing by over $1 trillion every 3 months. The defense budget alone is nearly $1 trillion… But now, interest payments on the debt are even higher than defense. Over $1 trillion in interest. And rising. This isn’t sustainable. Something has to change — or the country is going bankrupt.
