A while ago I had written a "screensaver" which was a window moving around the way a dvd logo would, someone suggested that it should interact with the windows present so I finally decided to implement it

Also yes you can spawn multiple of these

semi-related but this old Visual Studio UI makes me so nostalgic 😢

Same considering thats how I first started coding

I started with 2008 but 2010 just had such a. Vibe

just remembered this lol

Could make a nice game of Pong with this. It's cool

Yeah when I was moving the window around I realised you could probably make a breakout clone using this lol

If it's an intractable screen saver how do u stop it

When you move the mouse the program exits. For playing around I had that line commented out

@thethiny So there's now just a window moving around your screen for all eternity?

@thethiny No I can stop it in the vs debugger or simply grab focus and then alt+f4 to close the window

What happens if you squish it against a wall like a hydraulic press

Lol I just saw this in the ROS discord, open Twitter and see it here

I wonder what mindfuckery would happen if it tried to bounce off a fullscreen window

It ignores any windows that are maximized

Ah

I wonder what would happen if you started to move the other window aggressively into it

where can i download this?

I'll publish it some time soon but it's not hard to write one yourself as well considering I have the previous version already published on my github gist

The problem with this screensaver is that it doesn't save your screen from burn-in which is the purpose of a screensaver

bop it !

It will save the parts of your screen not where windows are. Cool.....

this is ace haha

i'm truly surprised how performant this is

It just needs confetti when it hits the corner dead on.

what if theres not enough space for the window

noo make them explode

PLEASE tell me this works with windows 11. Also can we customize the window? (Put a picture, gif, or text in it)

is it possible to add a bounce sound

AI could never.

This is all I can see.

2010 was the peak of Windows design

This would be cool if you could play pong over remote desktop.

That would work but unfortunately RDP only allows one session at a time. Maybe some other remote access software could work

this does not prevent burn in, the purpose screensavers were made for its pretty cool tho

Why not C# WinForms?

@Felix_J_An I already had written the first version in C so decided to build upon it

Now each window should have a health bar and each time they're hit, they lose a bit of health until they are destroyed.

Make it collect icons on the desktop. Make some of them act like power-ups that allow you to break other windows.

I will make this app in vb6. Sounds fun.

I wonder what will be the optimal way to pack 17 of them...

it takes the purpose away of screensaver when it cant go over the other tabs and it doesnt cover the entire screen

that does not save the screen

This reminds me of an old trojan "YouAreAnIdiot.vbs"

That's Arkanoid. You invented Arkanoid.

Windows 7... the Windows 11 style should have but 20 years earlier.

Wait. Win7?
