According to the investigation, Perez placed bets on which words, topics, and countries would be mentioned in Trump’s future speeches. He had access to speech drafts and the president’s final edits before the remarks were delivered. Analysts on the market noticed suspicious activity. According to ABC News, Perez may have earned around $100,000from bets on more than ten Trump speeches. The case is currently being reviewed by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Perez has been placed on unpaid leave. Trump called the situation a “disgrace” and ordered the employee to be temporarily removed
