Yeah, the guy explained it well. Similarly, nodes behave in a blockchain. They need to come to a consensus before adding the mined block to the chain.

You should dive into which server gets priority based on timecode when synchronizing

Fun fact, I did an interview just today, the recruiter asked me about this Cap Theorem. Omo I flunked it. Too many things to learn on this tech world.

Did you know under what topic or concept this cap stuff belongs to

äZu's profile picture

He asked how the CAP Theorem comes into play when building apps, basically, factors to consider as you code, the database to use, codebase architecture, and many more.

This system puts consistency above write-availability. I imagine this is deployed in only high stakes situations where consistency is king (finance, etc) cos that profile picture update situation seems like the write request could be accepted & synchronized later. Am I wrong?

F.O.L.A's profile picture
F.O.L.A9 months ago

You’re right. The system chooses consistency over availability, so it would rather block a write than risk showing different data. That’s why even a profile picture update can fail instead of syncing later.

Okay I'm more familiar with high availability and redundancy for business continuity. That was insightful. Thank you.

Na fundamental stuffs we dey learn. You'd have to do Masters for this, a separate course or go to an ivy league school like MIT.

I love the explanation, I actually feel like I'm ready for a job in whatever field this is but can sm1 tell the CAP is all about and what field this is before I start dishing out CVs
