Pune has a chronic behavioral problem of driving on the wrong side of the road. I got time to edit the video to my daily route today. In this 3 min video you will see gig works, women, school vans, dumpsters, auto mafias, cyclists, bikers, almost every niche driving on the wrong side. No fear whatsoever. You will see me honking as well to grab their attention because car owners like me will be blamed first if something happens. And with ADAS level 2 it is more riskier because car can sudden brake anytime and the vehicle behind me will cause more damage. We need a revolution for this. Maybe they are driving on wrong side due to long u turns? or to save some fuel or to save time or out of habit or maybe because all of it but no one is there to keep a check on them. No cameras no police no volunteers nothing. And this is non traffic hours. You can imagine 6-8pm traffic with high beams on the wrong side on a state highway.

I have been traveling nearly nonstop for over 2 months. Tonight was my last flight for the next 7 weeks. I’m beyond exhausted and miss my family. My flight landed just before midnight and I have a 38 mile drive home. Thank you Tesla AI for FSD. Because of your amazing technology, I know I will make it home to my family safe. It’s got me covered on all angles. I don’t have to worry about an attention lapse that could cost me my life. Stepping off the safest form of travel and into my Tesla is a reminder that soon, driving won’t be the dangerous endeavor it is today. And owning a car with FSD and using it correctly puts me ahead of the game. Seeing my family at the end of a long trip is worth it.

This woman just found out while pumping gas that there is a risk of fire due to static electricity. She’s gone this long as a driver and never noticed the signs on the pumps or didn’t pay attention in driving school to know this. For me this is an urban legend, I know it’s not. But it’s one of those things I’ve heard about, but I’ve never seen any examples of it actually happening. Most cars now have metal handles inside the car to open the door. I think that by opening the door with the metal handle it prevents any static electricity as soon as you exit. It’s one of those out of sight out of mind scenarios that body ever thinks about because the chances of it happening is so low. Who knows, maybe I’m wrong and these happen more than I think but I just don’t hear about it. But either way I always try to be safe at the pump but I’m not going to be overly mindful about it.

This woman is using a bike lane as a walking lane as well. There is a car behind her trying to beat the traffic and driving in that lane. They are driving slowly behind her yelling at her to get out of the way and antagonizing her. She starts to record them because they are being reckless and have come close to hitting her and other cars. The car even cuts off the other cars as the lane is being blocked by a pole. I understand she’s mad because the car was where they weren’t supposed to be, however the bike lane is a bi-directional bike lane, it isn’t a bike lane on one side and a walking lane on the other. So who is wrong here, are they both wrong for using the bike lane when neither one is on a bike?

This morning, before 6am, I got a harsh reminder that you can do everything right on the road and still end up in trouble because of someone else’s mistake. A friend was driving me to work. We were in traffic between Neoplan and the Achimota overhead, moving slowly like everyone else. Behind us was a truck loaded with sacks of cabbage and a red car. I was seated at the back when all I heard was a loud bang. The impact hit directly from behind, and because I was seated at the back, I felt it instantly in my back. Hours later, I’m still dealing with back and leg pains. The rear bumper of the car is damaged and will need repairs. In that moment, I was so shaken that I couldn’t even focus on whatever explanation the truck driver was giving. One minute you’re in traffic minding your business, the next minute you’re standing in the middle of the road surrounded by vehicles, people staring, and trying to process what just happened. The irony of driving in Accra is that sometimes your safety depends not on how carefully YOU drive, but on whether the person behind you is paying attention. Today it was a damaged bumper, pain, and a frightening experience. It could have been much worse. I’m grateful it wasn’t. But honestly, hmmm. You follow the rules, stay in your lane, obey traffic regulations, and someone else’s recklessness still finds a way to become your problem
