And the music I am playing now is a piece of music being taken from different shrines. The name given to it was Juju music, Yoruba music, because they have the tambourine that used to sound. You throw it, I throw it. When you play it, I throw it to you.” — King Sunny Ade explains the roots of his music and how the name “Juju music” came to be associated with the sound he plays.
