'When The Leeve Breaks', a song originally recorded and written by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie in 1929 and it's about the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. The song was later covered by the British rock band Led Zeppelin for their 4th studio album, known as Led Zeppelin IV. The band brought a fresh air to the song with their approach, Bonham's drums, Page's heavy-driven electric boxes, John Paul Jones' unique bass lines, and Plant's unmatched vocals. It quickly became a fan favourite song. Then, in 1994, as you may know, Led Zeppelin was already a broke-up band, and Jimmy Page and Robert Plant released their live album "No Quarter Unledded". In this live album, they recorded some of the Led Zep songs and When The Leeve Breaks is one of them. The album's songs were recorded in Morocco, Wales and London occured on an MTV project called "Unledded". Robert Plant and Jimmy Page performing "When The Leeve Breaks" from Unledded in 1994.

The Gap Band - You Dropped A Bomb On Me (1982) If you can listen to this song and not want to dance, something might be wrong! The Gap Band were originally known as the Greenwood, Archer and Pine Street Band in 1967, in their hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. They eventually settled on the shorter name, and as a band comprised of three brothers, were marketed as an R&B version of the Bee Gees. "You were my pills, you were my thrills, you were my hope, you were my smoke..." Those lyrics are so bittersweet!

Led Zeppelin bandmates had no idea that Robert Plan was referencing Tolkien in the band's lyrics. Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant telling the landscapes of his childhood, in the same Welsh countryside where J.R.R. Tolkien lived as a young man. He also says his Led Zeppelin bandmates were unaware that he was referencing 'The Lord of the Rings' in his songwriting for the band. This show took place live at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, a couple days ago.

These young ladies were waiting for their luggage, over a half an hour went by and still nothing. They were later called over to the airline kiosk and they got their luggage back. According to the representative, the luggage was damaged in transit. What makes it strange is it was all of the luggage from the same family, what are the odds of that happening since they weren’t all checked in at the same time. Does the airline owe them a better explanation as well as a check for their belongings?

Led Zeppelin in their last professionally filmed concert at Knebworth 1979. For most it was the first (and only) time they saw a band that had not played in Britain for 4 years. Knebworth was the return of Led Zeppelin. Unfortunately, a year later drummer John Bonham left us.

#MusicMonday: Led Zeppelin I’ve been asked to share a bit more about my experiences with Led Zeppelin. I first met Jimmy page in 1967 when I was with The Guess Who and he was with The New Yardbirds at The Cleveland Art Institute. Both bands shared a dressing room. He asked if he could play my Rickenbacker and I said yes, if I could play his Telecaster. This week in 1968, as an official band, Led Zeppelin played their first ever Canadian show at The Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. Their North American tour in ’68-’69 exploded their popularity in the US and Canada. In 1969, The Guess Who played The Seattle pop festival in Woodinville, WA. We ended up playing the same venues as Led Zep several times. After our band played, we’d go to the back of the crowd and watch the other acts. At one of the festivals, which were always in fields with generators, the main generator went out. Only one little amp was working. It had Robert Plant’s harmonica mic in it and the rest of the PA system was down. John Bonham kept drumming and Plant sang into this little mic and played harmonica for about 40 minutes until the power came on. I was amazed. They were just great! We crossed paths many times over the next few decades, playing the same circuits. It was a memorable moment for me as a musician when Robert Plant told me how much he loved “American Woman”. Decades later at Sweden Rock where I played with Fred Turner, I was able to give Jimmy an original poster from Seattle Pop I had saved from '69 and send one to Robert Plant as well. Incredible musicians who have rocked the world. #ledzeppelin #music #classicrock #askrandy
