I used to take a pal of mine to his NA/AA meetings. After a few meetings, I realized that being proactive and optimistically working towards new goals was much more uplifting than reflecting on the dark days - meetings? Not as much.

I have been there. I know and understand him. He has done something that only he can to help him stop. 1st is accepting he has a problem with Alcohol. 2nd he has reached out wanting to be helped. It’s just a sickness it will go away.
