RANDOM SHOTS: A leader must be out there. Must be in touch. Must be at the forefront. Must see things for himself. Must not be surrounded by sycophants who tell him all is well when it’s clearly not. A leader must be courageous, leading from the front, and not cocooned away from the pain of the people he/she leads. Rain, or shine, a leader takes the risk so his/her people do not have to. The reason to want to be in office is to make the lives of your citizens safe, easier and better. You don’t have to be liked by everybody, but you must do right by everybody for the greater good and not for the benefit of a few.

Let us face it. British soldiers in Laikipia have raped Kenyan women and killed our men, and faced zero accountability because the system protects them, not Kenyans. Not all of our Muslim neighbors are violent. Not at all. The vast majority of Muslims that we meet will not be violent. We can befriend them and love them. We can share the gospel with them and see the image of God in them, just as much in them as it is in us and our children. At the same time, we must be completely clear-eyed about the contradiction between the American way of life and the ideology of political Islam. We must do that. I think we are obligated to do that.
