I was watching book 1, gyatso, I said something that made me think. Aang: This whole Avatar thing, maybe the monks made a mistake. Gyatso: The only mistake they made was telling you before you turned 16.

They should have waited till he get of age... Lol

Ironically, that saved his life, because if he hadn't fled, he probably would have died along with the rest of the Air Nomads.
