Assets in leveraged ETFs have fallen from $50 billion to $17 billion, with the unwind largely complete. Hedge funds have completed about 90% of their deleveraging, while long-short leverage declined from 5.7 times to 3.2 times as of July 27. Retail margin balances stand at around $20 billion, suggesting relatively contained risks.
