Yes, the Indian government passed the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. It was approved by Parliament and got Presidential assent on August 11, 2023. The Act protects digital personal data, and draft rules for its implementation were released in January 2025. It’s still in effect as of April 2025.
