Before Win arrived and while everyone else was still scattered around the venue, one of the kids pointed at Win’s standee and called out, “Phi Win.” His voice when he uttered “Phi Win” was laced with quiet confidence and pride. Not with the excitement of spotting a celebrity, but with the joy and warmth of recognition. That was the moment it clicked for me. Win isn’t a stranger to these kids.
