Thomas Sowell has said something similar to: The natural state for every person in the entirety of history has been poverty. Only capitalism has generated enough wealth to lift the largest % of humans around the globe out of poverty in all of human history. It grows the pie. And if you live in America and make $30K a year, congratulations - you're in the top 1% of the 8 billion people on earth.
